Straight From The Floor Recommendations (The Past 12 Months)
Tracks From The Last 12 Months That Worked The Floors
To get the ball rolling with recommendations regarding tracks that work on the dance floors here are just five of those that did the most damage over the last 12 months coming out of our DJ booth
If you haven't latched on yet, we're talking dance floors and reactions that get the tracks up for review, not home listening appraisal, more of a on line reaction sheet based on what happens when a good bit of music meets with the dancers
Naturally all selected tracks are 100% independently reviewed which kind of seems a fair way of promoting music we're bang in to
All tracks are available on line, so if like us you really like what you hear then give them a go if you haven't already
New reviews on music, remixes and the odd edit will be coming next
FRANK BOOKER - EL SALVADOR
Great mid tempo groove influenced house gear that managed to find it's regular place at the mid way point in our dj sets for many months over the last 6-12 months. Very useful when looking for the transition into more up tempo territory or for keeping things on the "strung out" tip. One for the house heads and those that like things funky in an understated way
MARIUS - GLOW OF FILTER AND DUB
This is probably as far as we'd go with anything "hands in the air" where piano's are concerned. Glow Of Filter and Dub worked a treat as a stand out track and was always reliable when the requirement to "up the game" was required. It's a longish track this one but the mid point percussion section more than kept the interest levels high on the floor when played out. Extra points gained for that piano that re-enters after the long drum section. Don't be put off by the word piano as this ones beautifully executed whilst also appealing to a cross section of dancers
OMAR - FEELING YOU "HENRIK SCHWARZ REMIX"
Slightly off piste this one that fuses Omar's distinct vocals alongside Henrik's production skills. After playing lots of warm sounding material in a dj set this really switches things around nicely partly due to the slight "dark" presence forming the backbone of the overall sound on this track. None the less, extremely funky, slightly different and as always very groove laden. Some may call this one challenging or have missed the point completely however the dancers dig it and that's always a good sign
LOIN BROTHERS - GARDEN OF VANGULF "TORNADO WALLACE REMIX"
First track to be recommended from one of our favourite producers of 2011. Love the drop around 2 minutes and the all round flow of the track which at the same time is an understated big hitter. Feel good deep house music still able to find a home on the dance floor amongst all that disco that we're dropping
JD 73 - INTO THE NIGHT "TORNADO WALLACE REMIX"
Second remix from Tornado that gets our support. A jazzy affair with a massive percussive feel. The track starts out all deep and mysterious with some spoken word then heads off into a great work out for it's main part. This was one of those tracks that you hope works well but never can tell until you play it. Needless to say this worked every time when needing to mix up the styles whilst keeping the dancers on their toes. Jazzy flavours with a slight Latin swing that slightly overshadows the tracks evident house roots...not a bad thing
There you go, our first few recommendations based on our somewhat enthusiastic if slightly matter of fact appreciation of a few pieces of music that have worked well over last 12 months in various places
Hoped you found this useful
