The Recess

Brighton Dj duo Johnny & Rich have been djing together since early 2006 throwing parties and dance floor shapes all over Brighton.

Having firmly secured their individual musical styles they set about spreading The Recess sound to a wider audience via their monthly internet Radio show and podcast on www.brap.fm

Playing an eclectic mix of Disco/Nu Disco/Re-edits & Balearic treats, their selections remain interesting and their enthusiasm is infectious…

Their musical selections are influenced by Prince, 80's New Wave, Classic Disco, Giorgio Moroder and Italo Disco sounds, anything to do with space travel, elephants and dancing girls, DFA records disco cuts, cruisy nu disco thats make you go mmmmmmmm & anything with cowbells in!

They also have regular special guests which have included Pete Herbert, Dicky Trisco (Eskimo, Maxi Discs, Disco Deviance) & MAELSTROM (Eskimo, Solar Disco) and regularly showcase their musical tangents at 100Below Basement disco parties.

The great thing about these guys is that unlike so many of the disco stalwarts that frequent on line forums and internet groups the guys have come out of the early to mid naughties dance scene and have embraced the sound wholeheartedly as well as searching out new forms of the genre to showcase on their monthly radio shows.
