6th Borough Project-Do It To The Max

This is great, released by The 6th Borough Project "Do It To The Max" gets a massive thumbs up from GBB Towers and yes before anyone mentions it the picture isn't the correct one associated with this release, however this one looks far prettier even though there's a snake depicted on the label.

The tune itself has a slower more "chugged out" vibe than a lot of the material that GBB is snapping up at present whilst also demonstrating yet another fine take on disco music that's getting released in 2009.

A quality set opener and a fine piece of dance floor ammo if you just want to drop the tempo mid flow!

Nice one, looking forward to lots more from you in the near future.

Streets Sounds Returns-The Real Sound of Electro

Seminal 80's Electro Label Streetsounds is set to make a comeback with some new releases in March this year.

If you are of a certain age you'll have fond memories of this labels impact on the UK dance scene when you were a teenager trying to pull of some elaborate break dancing moves down your local shopping center on a Saturday afternoon no doubt.

If however you're a little less long in the musical tooth this timely return will give an indication of why people sometimes get confused when people refer to electro house as electro, Go Bang Brighton being one of the many.

We can confirm that the new Street Sounds album is to be called – ‘NU ELECTRO Volume 1’ and of course, will be the first in a whole series. The official release date of Street Sounds Nu Electro is Monday 23rd March 2009. The album will be available as a double CD and Very limited Edition 2 x 12” vinyl. Both CDs will be DJ mixed like the original Street Sounds Electro albums. I will be able to announce next week who is going to mix the album!

Unique Uncut is the record label spawned by the Basement Soul club sessions and sound - all forms of hiphop, rare groove, broken beat, house, techno, soul, jazz, electronica, disco, psyche, rock… Basement Soul Music

It is not a conventional record label - the main aim is to raise profile of high quality, unknown artists by placing them next to established names, be it through compilations, remixes or collaborations. Additionally, most of the music is licensed and not signed so the artist gets maximum return on income and can remain open to other, larger record deals.

The new disco and deep house offshoot of German label Compost Recordings. If you were to ask anyone including your mother in law these days to describe house music, you would probably receive a hundred and one different answers based around that particular question, not a bad thing but more a reality of how diverse this genre has become.

OK, lets be honest, today what's commonly understood by the many as house music has moved on from the original sound but that doesn't mean that the sensibilities of early house have been forgotten by some of producers that are around making music today .

Artists such as Phreek Plus One, Jay Sheppard, Matt Flores and Studio R continue to release music that maintains many of early house music’s flavor for texture and warmth alongside more cosmic influences that are prevalent on today’s newer disco releases. Call it deep, minimal or cosmic, Compost Black delivers it on time, every time.

Fans are a very mixed bunch, Laurent Garnier, Peter Kruder, Dumo and Chris Duckenfield all give the label the thumbs aloft, so with those guys on your side you know you're doing the right thing.
